As a Field Application Specialist in laboratory Automation, you will be pivotal in driving product sales by developing, implementing, and expanding Nonacus' automated protocols. Reporting to the Head of Support, you'll be the bridge between our customers and the commercial team, providing pre- and post-sales support, technical consultation, and hands-on training.

Key responsibilities:

  • Keep the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system up to date.
  • Providing scientific/technical consultation to customers in partnership with the sales team to ensure customers understand and use automated methods to best suit their needs.
  • Delivering technical presentations and training for internal or customer-facing events.
  • Leading hands-on product and software training in customer laboratories.
  • Reporting on relevant activities in the field regularly to local sales partners, management, R&D, and product marketing.
  • Monitoring technical trends and competitive products in the automation space, particularly for clinical markets.
  • Providing remote and/or on-site troubleshooting assistance to customers in partnership with our internal technical support team.
  • Implementation of automated methods on customer sites, including installation and adaptation for customer needs, wet testing and verification.
  • Ensure customer support needs are achieved on time and appropriately documented.
  • Supporting product specialists within our distributor network with automation training.
  • Set up and maintain software tools and processes for customer support, including remote support, version control, file-sharing platforms and virtual machines.
  • Nurture relationships with automation suppliers (hardware and software) to collaborate and leverage expertise.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automation software capabilities, new versions, and requirements from a customer perspective.
  • Evaluating and providing customer feedback to sales, management, product marketing, and R&D on automation methods before and after, their launch.
  • Interfacing with R&D, product management, and customers to identify and help develop new automated solutions.
  • Being a key contributor in the promotion of automation marketing activities at Nonacus-sponsored marketing/sales events and/or regional/national scientific conferences.
  • Development of automated methods for internal needs (R&D and Manufacturing),

Job qualifications:

You will be expected to have solid knowledge background in Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or equivalent field gained via formal education (Masters/BSc) or extensive background. You will need significant hands-on experience using lab automation, preferably systems from Hamilton, Tecan, PerkinElmer (now Revvity), Beckman, Eppendorf, and/or SPT Labtech. Having proven experience in designing, optimising, and deploying automated methods in a service laboratory environment, utilising current best practices is a requirement to work effectively in our customer-centric culture.

This role requires flexibility in working hours and availability to travel for business both nationally and internationally. It will be seen as an advantage should you have knowledge of ISO13485, ISO15189 and/or ISO23783, technical knowledge of NGS applications including library preparation techniques, programming language (e.g. Python/C+) or source control, particularly Git.
